Session Seven Newsletter 2024

Only a few more weeks left of the summer, and we are making the most of it! Enjoying summer while it lasts! We are so thankful for the friends that have joined the farm this year and if you’re not back this year we hope to see you in 2025 to make some more memories!

Nature Sallie and the campers were very successful this week in the swamps. They caught a water snake! These sneaky creatures are hard to get a hold of but once they caught it, Sallie got to show the campers up close! Sometimes down at the lake they make an appearance in the water, but they are more scared of us and swim away when they realize it’s not time to come out yet. We are very thankful Nature Sallie is with us at UHF, she helps campers learn about the animals that help our nature around us flourish.

Another Wednesday means tie-dye! On Wednesday’s each week the campers can bring a 100% cotton t-shirt to tie-dye. Casey, Sam, Lauren, and some counselors help the campers tie the shirt into a design and the campers put the dye on the shirts wherever they choose. The campers get very creative and a little messy….

Throughout the week, Ava and counselors help campers with horseback riding! If they aren’t riding, they are pampering the horses after a long day in the sun.

Counselors were on a cooking activity kick this week. The campers joined in on making ice cream, banana pudding, cosmic brownies and more! We always say it’s about the process not the product! But I can say everything turned out delicious!

On Thursday we jumped back into the past for Time Warp Day! Campers and counselors, we able to dress up in any decade they wanted. Lots of cool crafts throughout the day! One of our crafts went wayyyy back in time to the dinosaurs. Campers made some paper plate dinosaurs, and they turned out so cute!

One of my favorite crafts that was held was record melting. Kasie helped campers slightly melt an old record into the shape of a bowl. They were able to paint and design the record however they wanted and take it home for decorations.

Another camp classic activity is friendship bracelets. Campers and counselors sat up on the hill and make friendship bracelets together. If you didn’t know how to make one the counselors helped campers one on one.

Joining the friendship bracelets on the hill was beaded bracelets and mini God’s Eyes. All of their crafts turned out amazing!

This week we would like to congratulate our four counselors for getting C.O.W! C.O.W stands for counselors of the week. They truly did an amazing job this week and throughout the summer! The campers adore all of you, thank you for being the amazing person you are! Clare (far left), head counselor of the Punk Rock-Coons, Kasie (left), head counselor of the Swashbuckling Sparrows, Brooke (right), assistant counselor of the Dancing Dandy Lions, and Rhys (far right), CIT of the Moo Hawks.
